The brand-new album by David Gilmour, Luck and Strange was recorded over five months in Brighton and London and is Gilmours first album of new material in nine years. The record was produced by David and Charlie Andrew, best known for his work with alt-J and Marika Hackman, with lyrics mostly written by Polly Samson, Gilmours co-writer for the past thirty years.
The album features eight new tracks along with a beautiful reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers Between Two Points, which sees Romany Gilmour, who performs backing vocals across the album, on vocals and harp.
Musicians contributing to the record include Guy Pratt & Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry & Roger Eno on keyboards and the string and choral arrangements are by Will Gardner. The title track also features the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright, recorded in 2007 during a Barn Jam at Davids house.
The albums cover image, photographed and designed by renowned artist Anton Corbijn, is inspired by lyrics written by Charlie Gilmour for the albums final song Scattered.

Recently ordered the Luck and Strange vinyl by David Gilmour, and received it within a couple of weeks. My copy was damaged on arrival, probably a manufacturing defect, having a long scratch along the latter half of side one. Called the supplier and they replaced it immediately with no fuss. Second copy arrived a week later. Thanks to all for the prompt and courteous service. And, by the way, the record is brilliant!!! Cheers!

Amazing! Gilmour never fails to deliver. His soulful voice accompanied by his masterful guitar stirs my soul. Romany has a graceful and lovely voice to accompany him. I now own three CDs (one for each vehicle) and the translucent glass vinyl. A piece my kids can argue over when I depart this world. Safe travels and show them all how it is done!

Hello, I just had a chance to sit and listen while reading the lyrics, wow so good, and I am only the second song. The instrumental to begin side A was so great, brought back memories. Love the solo follow on "A Single Spark", more of that please. Beautiful voice on "Between to Points" Hello side B :) I found myself just relaxing to the sounds coming from my old speakers. Thank you and your team, so much for this great selection of songs.

I am thrilled with this album, every track! While I liked it right off, it grew on me with each listen and is my new favorite. Great vinyl and packaging. Cant wait to see Mr. Gilmour my first time in LA and NY!

I'm sure it's a nice looking album. Honestly, I haven't opened it. I don't have a player. I bought it as a keepsake. I DO like the album and play it nearly every day at work along with Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell, Dark Side of the Moon, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Anyway, I really appreciate the tone on the new album, and I like the songs with Romany and the variety of different kinds of songs. As I get older I enjoy the more mature aspect that seems to be inherent in a lot of older artists music. Obviously it means more because you can relate to it more easily.
