Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. On An Island is the third solo album by Pink Floyd member David Gilmour. It was released in the UK on March 6, 2006, Gilmour's 60th birthday. It was his first solo album in 22 years since About Face in 1984 and twelve years since Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell. The album features Robert Wyatt, Jools Holland, Georgie Fame, David Crosby, Graham Nash, late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, early Pink Floyd member Bob Klose and Pink Floyd session and touring musician Guy Pratt. Chris Thomas and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera assisted with production. Much of the album was recorded in Gilmour's private studio aboard his houseboat Astoria. Orchestrations on the album were arranged by noted Polish film composer Zbigniew Preisner and conducted by Robert Ziegler.Tracklist:

On An Island, a cherished album in my collection,

In my opinion this is truly a great album. It ranks high in my collection. Not much I could say that could turn any more eyes towards David Gilmour. As humble as he may be, the guy is a legend. His work on this album was close to his finest. I own his 1st album from 1978, which is a very nice piece of work, and his latest work Luck and Strange, which personally ranks the best for me. A little bird told me he’s cooking up something to release in the near future, and if that is true, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. David Gilmour has been such an influence on me, musically, that I give him credit for inspirational reasons. I don’t play electric, but I do play acoustic. I will have music releasing in the near future. However, On An Island is, and will forever be an album that sits in my top 20. Highly recommend this album if any of you haven’t heard it yet.

    Peace and Love,

    - Matthew James Johnson

I’ve loved this album since it first came out. Finally had the opportunity to purchase it on vinyl, and I’m not disappointed. Good pressing, sounds great, no pops. Nice, heavyweight vinyl. Not flimsy at all. Great purchase overall.
